Essential Functions
40% Greet customers and provide them with prompt, professional service as needed and assist in locating and/or retrieving merchandise
25% Handle, prepare, weigh and price deli / bakery products following department procedures or recipes
15% Stock fresh product, rotate dated and/or perishable merchandise, pulling any out of date or damaged merchandise from the shelf and condition store shelves, cases, etc. when instructed
15% Clean and sanitize deli / bakery preparation areas, as well as sales areas with the manner and procedure established by the department and in accordance with all applicable health regulations
5% Handles damaged and/or spoiled products according to department procedures and apply department established standards to reduce loss of profitable product (shrink)
Secondary Functions
- Provide assistance in other departments of the store when needed
- Assist in periodic functions such as inventory, special promotions, etc.
- Follow all safety guidelines and procedures while performing job functions
· Ensure that deli / bakery department merchandise remains within accepted Food Safety Time / Temperature guidelines to guarantee food safety and quality of merchandise
- Assist in maintaining all merchandising, safety and food safety log forms required by the company
· Participate in training activities to increase personal skill level, improve overall customer care and department performance

· Must achieve the standard acceptable level of production within the probationary work period and maintain that level going forward
· Must acquire an acceptable level of product knowledge within the probationary work period and increase that level going forward
· Stock shelves / display cases and handle excess merchandise in accordance with J&J guidelines
· Exhibit a desire to sell groceries and to help customers
Qualifications:
- Education and Work Experience • A high school diploma or GED equivalent is preferred • At least two years of experience in the grocery industry is preferred
- Language Skills • Ability to read, write, and speak English fluently (Spanish desired) • Ability to speak clearly
- Mathematical Skills • Basic math skills (addition, subtraction, multiplication and division)
- Reasoning Ability • The ability to discern when a customer is in need of some sort of assistance • The ability to estimate within an accepted range the amount of any given product needed for a particular time period
