Essential Functions
50% Keep displays, shelves and refrigerated cases properly stocked and faced according to department guidelines
20% Examine fresh merchandise and “cull” out the unacceptable product according to department guidelines and rotate dated and/or perishable merchandise in accordance with store procedures, pulling any out of date merchandise from the shelf, and handle damaged and/or spoiled products according to department procedures and apply department established standards to reduce loss of profitable product (shrink)
10% Maintain good cleaning and sanitization of the Produce Preparation areas, as well as sales areas with the manner and procedure established by the department and in accordance with all applicable health regulations
10% Assist customers in locating and/or retrieving merchandise
10% Assist in receiving and unloading of merchandise, including checking the merchandise received to ensure proper count, quality and conditions
Secondary Functions
· Participates in training activities to increase personal skill level, improve overall customer care and department performance
· Follows all J&J Foods’ safety guidelines and procedures while performing job functions
· Provides assistance in other departments of the store when needed
· Assists in periodic functions such as inventory, special promotions, etc.
· Ensure that produce merchandise remains within accepted Food Safety Time / Temperature guidelines to guarantee food safety and quality of merchandise

Performance Factors
- Must achieve the standard acceptable level of production within the probationary work period and maintain that level going forward
- Stock shelves and handle back stock merchandise in accordance with J&J guidelines
· Exhibit a desire to sell groceries and to help customers
- Must acquire an acceptable level of product knowledge within the probationary work period and increase that level going forward
Qualifications:
- Education and Work Experience • A high school diploma or GED equivalent is preferred • At least two years of experience in the grocery industry is preferred
- Language Skills • Ability to read, write and speak English fluently • Ability to speak clearly
- Mathematical Skills • Must be able to do simple math (addition, subtraction, multiplication and division) quickly and accurately
- Reasoning Ability • The ability to discern when a customer is in need of some sort of assistance • The ability to estimate within an accepted range the amount of any given product needed for a particular time period.
