POSITION OVERVIEW
An employee in this position is responsible for cutting all cuts of fresh meat, packaging, displaying, pricing, and merchandising any and all meat products and other items maintained by the department. This employee may also be required to unload incoming freight and be responsible for proper rotation and placement of products in storage. This employee may also be required to inform customers about meat products and other meat department items.
GENERAL DESCRIPTION/DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES/ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
· Provides friendly and prompt service to customers as required
· Answer questions from customers about meat products in a professional manner
· Answers questions and assists with locating products by taking a customer directly to said products
· Proper stocking and rotation of merchandise
· Performs tasks such as, but not limited to: packaging, weighing, labeling, cleaning, cutting and merchandising of products to ensure fresh, high quality, profitable offerings
· Ensures cleanliness of meat aisles, storage areas, and work areas; includes but is not limited to: cleaning/organization of shelves and products, keeping floors free of spills, removing hazardous debris from floor, sweeping/mopping.
· Responsible for proper inventory control to maximize product freshness and availability
· Monitors product and supply inventories and notifies manager when product levels are low or empty
· Stocks, fills, faces products and displays
· Ensures labeling and pricing accuracy
· Is aware of case/cooler temperatures and communicates any concerns regarding proper temperatures or safety
· Ensures all equipment is in working order and safe; alerts management when safety or cleanliness is a concern
· Assists in the unloading and proper storage of deliveries
· Receives and inspects deliveries to ensure proper inventory and accuracy
· Follows proper housekeeping and cleaning standards
· Maintains clean, safe and sanitary meat department area and equipment
· Requires operating and using equipment such as, but not limited to:meat saws, grinders, vacuum sausage makers, knives, scales, wrappers, compactors, garbage disposals, pallet jacks, carts, sanitizing equipment and labeling machines
· Keeps up to date on new products
· Walks department regularly to ensure an organized, sanitary, and overall clean appearance at all times
· Maintains a positive work environment with fellow employees throughout the store
· Maintains excellent communication with managers
· Expected to be familiar with the entire store and it’s layout to ensure top customer service
· Expected to assist other departments as needed
· Expected to monitor cleanliness and safety throughout the entire store
· Other related duties as assigned
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
· Knowledge of perishables/Meat is required
· Ability to operate equipment; including, but not limited to: knives, meat saws, vacuum sausage makers,
scales, wrappers, grinders and slicers
· Requires strong attention to detail
· Ability to read, write and count
· Excellent communication skills in order to ensure excellent customer service
· Outgoing, friendly, neat and professional

EDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE
· Must be aged 18 years or older
· Must be attending high school or have a high school diploma or equivalent
· 1-2 years experience working in a Meat Department setting preferred but not necessary
Qualifications:
- Experience Preferred; Will Train
Requirements:
- Requires standing, walking, bending, and/or climbing throughout the entire workday
- Repetitive arm and hand movements; bending, carrying, and lifting
- Requires transferring product either horizontally or vertically of up to 30 pounds
- Weekend, evening, and holiday work will be required; flexible store assignments and hours
