An employee in this position is responsible for preparing, packaging, displaying, pricing, and merchandising any and all deli/hot foods products and other items maintained by the department. This employee informs customers about deli/hot foods products.


· Provides friendly and prompt service to customers

· Slice, cut, weigh, and price merchandise in a courteous manner and prepares orders to customers’ satisfaction

· Answers questions and assists with locating products by taking a customer directly to said products

· Answer questions from customers about deli/hot foods products in a professional manner

· Proper stocking and rotation of merchandise

· Performs tasks such as, but not limited to, packaging, weighing, labeling, cleaning, cutting and merchandising of products to ensure fresh, high-quality offerings

· Ensures cleanliness of deli/hot foods aisles, storage areas, and work areas; includes but is not limited to: cleaning/organization of shelves and products, keeping floors free of spills, removing hazardous debris from floor, sweeping/mopping

· Responsible for proper inventory control to maximize product freshness and availability

· Monitors product and supply inventories and notifies manager when product levels are low or empty

· Stocks, fills, faces products and displays

· Ensures labeling and pricing accuracy

· Is aware of case/cooler temperatures and communicates any concerns regarding proper temperatures or safety

· Ensures all equipment is in working order and safe; alerts management when safety or cleanliness is a concern

· Assists in the unloading and proper storage of deliveries

· Receives and inspects deliveries to ensure proper inventory and accuracy

· Follows proper housekeeping and cleaning standards

· Maintains clean, safe and sanitary deli/hot foods department area and equipment

· Requires operating and using equipment such as, but not limited to, knives, scales, wrappers compactors, garbage disposals, pallet jacks, carts, and labeling machines

· Keeps up to date on new products

· Promote new items and weekly specials

· Walks department regularly to ensure an organized, sanitary, and overall clean appearance at all times

· Maintains a positive work environment with fellow employees throughout the store

· Maintains excellent communication with managers

· Must be aged 18 years or older

· Must be attending high school or have a high school diploma or equivalent

· 1-2 years experience working in a Deli Department setting preferred but not necessary

  • Requires transferring product either horizontally or vertically of up to 30-50 pounds
