H.F. Lenz Company is seeking an innovative Electrical Design Engineer to lead our mission critical and data-center engineering projects .  This role will work as a design and construction project manager to oversee facility infrastructure, electrical system design, and manage projects through design and construction processes.  Electrical systems design includes low and medium voltage power, lighting, distribution systems, telecom, fire alarm and security systems.  Please note, this role can be located in the following locations:

  • Johnstown, PA
  • Pittsburgh, PA
  • Northern VA

Responsibilities:

  • Lead complex electrical engineering projects and initiatives, working cross-functionally with design teams, construction, field operations, vendors, owners and clients.
  • Conduct analyses and audits of electrical systems, and lead implementation of solutions.
  • Prepare electrical specifications and design criteria
  • Develop comprehensive project plans, schedules, and progress reports.
  • Review and develop detailed response for submittals, change orders and request for information (RFI's).
  • Travel to data-center sites to lead engineering studies, electrical systems audits, startup testing, and full commissioning.
  • Develop and review design standards and specifications, and method of procedures (MOP) for consistency.
  • Review method of procedures (MOP) documents  with local data-center operations teams.
  • Provide and analyze energy efficient solutions to minimize power losses.

Qualifications:

  • • Communication, presentation, project management, and reporting experience.‎
  • • Troubleshooting and analytical experience.‎
  • • Cross-discipline knowledge of critical facility systems.‎
  • • Knowledge of short circuit coordination and arc flash studies.‎
  • • Experience in load management at the operations level within a critical facility.‎

Requirements:

  • • Bachelors or Masters' Degree in Electrical Engineering or Architectural Engineering.‎
  • • Registered Professional Engineer (P.E.) License is required.‎
  • • ‎5+ years of experience working with Electrical Building Systems Design, including power ‎distribution, telecom, lighting systems, fire protection and security systems.‎
  • • Knowledge of medium voltage (34.5kV and 12kV) substations and distribution is preferred.‎
  • • Knowledge of industry standards, building codes (NEC) and safety standards.‎
  • • Travel to project sites is required.‎
  • • Must have ability to obtain Security Clearance.‎
  • • Must be authorized to work in the US without sponsorship.‎
  • • Autodesk Revit
