An employee in this position is responsible for producing various bakery products/baked goods by following set recipes and department standards. This individual will measure, mix, cut, roll, press, proof, bake, fry, fill and frost as necessary to provide customers with a variety of visually appealing, appetizing, high-quality baked goods. 

  • Creates baked goods following set department recipes and standards.
  • Prepares product for baking/bakes products.
  • Maintains adequate level of supplies in the bakery by replenishing ingredients and other items as needed.
  • Provides friendly and prompt service to customers
  • Answers questions and assists with locating products by taking a customer directly to said products
  • Assists customers in placing special orders in person and by telephone
  • Ensures cleanliness of bakery aisles, storage areas, and work areas; includes but is not limited to: cleaning/organization of shelves and products, keeping floors free of spills, removing hazardous debris from floor, sweeping/mopping.
  • Maintains clean, safe and sanitary bakery area and equipment.
  • Ensures all equipment is in working order and safe; alerts management when safety or cleanliness is a concern
  • May be responsible for cleaning and stocking the donut case, or other bakery displays, as needed
  • Maintains proper rotation of all bakery products and supplies
  • Receives and inspects deliveries to ensure proper inventory and accuracy
  • Requires operating and using equipment such as, but not limited to, fryers, mixers, knives, scales, slicers, rounders, wrappers, compactors, garbage disposals, pallet jacks, carts, and labeling machines
  • Utilizes knowledge of scales and weight measures to accurately weigh and label products
  • Participates in pre-inventory/inventory preparation
  • Keeps up to date on new products, seasonal items, existing products, product locations, and preparation techniques
  • Walks department regularly to ensure an organized, sanitary, and overall clean appearance at all times
  • Maintains a positive work environment with fellow employees throughout the store
  • Maintains excellent communication with managers
  • Expected to be familiar with the entire store and its layout to ensure top customer service even if approached while not in the “home” department
  • Expected to assist other departments as needed
  • Expected to monitor cleanliness and safety throughout the entire store, not just the “home” department

  • 1-2 years experience working in a Bakery department setting preferred but not necessary
  • Occasional exposure to extreme temperatures
  • Frequently near hot grease
  • Requires standing, walking, bending, and/or climbing throughout the entire work day
  • Repetitive arm and hand movements; bending, carrying, and lifting
  • Requires transferring product either horizontally or vertically of up to 50 pounds
  • Weekend, evening, and holiday work will be required; flexible store assignments and hours
  • Must be 18 years of age or older
