Responsibilities:

The Café Manager is responsible for all aspects of the Café Department, including:

  • Managing, training, and scheduling department associates
  • Food production planning and preparation
  • Ensuring food quality and food safety
  • Providing excellent customer service
  • Inventory, ordering, pricing, and merchandising
  • Increasing department sales and gross profits
  • Maintaining clean work and storage areas, complying with all health regulations
  • Monitoring associates to ensure they are working and operating equipment properly
  • Working collaboratively with ownership, management team, and vendors

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of local, state, and federal health and labeling regulations, USDA regulations, and OSHA standards
  • Knowledge and practice of safe knife handling skills, cross-contamination prevention, proper food preparation and storage
  • Must have, or be able to obtain, appropriate food safety certification
  • Demonstrates excellent communication and leadership skills
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong multi-tasking and problem-solving skills
  • Possesses basic math skills for ordering, inventory, pricing and production purposes
  • Strong organizational skills

Education and Work Experience:

  • 5+ years cooking experience
  • Previous management experience in the retail, grocery, deli, cafe, catering or restaurant industry preferred

Requirements:

  • Requires standing, walking, bending, and/or climbing throughout the entire workday
  • Repetitive arm and hand movements; bending, carrying, and lifting
  • Requires transferring product either horizontally or vertically of up to 50 lbs
  • Weekend, evening, and holiday work will be required; flexible store assignments and hours
