POSITION OVERVIEW

An employee in this position is responsible for adequately stocking and maintaining attractive, shop-able and safe grocery store shelves. This employee may also be responsible for new product displays, pricing new items and ensuring that price changes are carried out appropriately. This employee will also assist customers in finding requested grocery items or with questions regarding products and pricing.

GENERAL DESCRIPTION/DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES/ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

· Provides friendly and prompt service to customers

· Answers questions and assists with locating products by taking a customer directly to said products

· Provide exemplary customer service by ensuring products are replenished on the shelves

· Answer questions from customers about grocery/dairy/frozen products in a professional manner

· Proper stocking and rotation of merchandise

· Performs tasks such as, but not limited to: displaying, labeling, cleaning, and merchandising of products to ensure fresh, high quality offerings

· Ensures cleanliness of grocery/dairy/frozen aisles, storage areas, and work areas; includes but is not limited to: cleaning/organization of shelves and products, keeping floors free of spills, removing hazardous debris from floor, sweeping/mopping

· Responsible for proper inventory control to maximize product freshness and availability

· Monitors product and supply inventories and notifies manager when product levels are low or empty

· Stocks, fills, faces products and displays

· Ensures labeling and pricing accuracy

· Is aware of case/cooler temperatures and communicates any concerns regarding proper temperatures or safety

· Ensures all equipment is in working order and safe; alerts management when safety or cleanliness is a concern

· Assists in the unloading and proper storage of deliveries

· Receives and inspects deliveries to ensure proper inventory and accuracy

· Follows proper housekeeping and cleaning standards

· Maintains clean, safe and sanitary grocery/dairy/frozen department area and equipment

· Requires operating and using equipment such as, but not limited to: compactors, garbage disposals, pallet jacks, and carts

· Collects carts from the lot and surrounding areas if needed and returns them to their proper place (maximum of six at one time)

· Collects shopping hand baskets and returns them to their proper place

· Ensures empty carts and hand baskets are kept clear from clutter and are clean

· Keeps up to date on new products and their locations

· Become familiar with products in the entire store to answer questions and make suggestions to customers

· Be knowledgeable of weekly ad items

· Walks department regularly to ensure an organized, sanitary, and overall clean appearance at all times

· Maintains a positive work environment with fellow employees throughout the store

· Maintains excellent communication with managers

· Communicates customer requests to management

· Expected to be familiar with the entire store and it’s layout to ensure top customer service

· Expected to assist other departments as needed

· Expected to monitor cleanliness and safety throughout the entire store

· Other related duties as assigned

EDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE

· Must be attending high school or have a high school diploma or equivalent

· 1-2 years experience working in a Grocery Retail setting preferred but not necessary

Qualifications:

• Customer Service Experience Preferred

Requirements:

• Requires standing, walking, bending, and/or climbing throughout the entire workday
• Repetitive arm and hand movements; bending, carrying, and lifting
• Requires transferring product either horizontally or vertically of up to 30-50 pounds
• Weekend, evening, and holiday work will be required; flexible store assignments and hours
• Various duties as assigned by supervisor
